Dance instruction, arranged by Jacob's Pillow, will begin at 8 PM for those who need a refresher or who want to catch up on the latest Cuban dance moves.             3. HAPPY DANCING DAY: MY KIND OF PHILOSOPHY
THE OFFICIAL MESSAGE FOR DANCE DAY APRIL 29, 2009

The future of dance lies where there are persons who do not dance. These belong to two categories: those who simply did not learn, and those who think that they are not able to dance. They represent the greatest challenge for the dance teacher's profession.

In line with UNESCO's struggle against prejudice and discrimination, we are trying to expand the boundaries of dance and to change the current perception of what a dancer is. Dance performances are not necessarily exhibitions of extreme physicality, accurate precision, or bursting emotion - they can be celebrations of interaction between performers. We can enrich dance concerts with dancers, singers, actors, narrators, mimes, acrobats etc., of all ages and all degrees of ability.

Bringing the 'excluded' into dance is a moral duty, but also opens a great door in times of economic crisis and unemployment. In every country there are millions of persons with physical or mental disabilities. We believe they are ready to dance.
They will create jobs to thousands of dance teachers. They can be assisted by the Ministry of Health, whose budget is many times bigger than that of the Ministry of Culture.
Integrating marginalized persons into the practice of dance is as important as integrating them into the workforce.

CID holds to the philosophy that everyone can dance.
Dance Day 2009 is dedicated to inclusive dance. Let us include all members of society into our classes and our performances.

OOPS! More Changes
Queridos amigos (Dear friends):
..... Hello Teresa! I have been so happy to see you back in action! I haven't come to any of your events because... I will be home ... in the spring (soon, I hope!). I'm wondering if I could hire you to help me with hosting a traditional cuban pig roast/dance party on July 31 in honor of my son's wedding? Let me know if it sounds like fun and if you are available. ...Kisses, V."

1. The story about the new Thursdays and Sunday dances
Date: Tue, 10 Mar 2009 18:56:06 -0700
From: hablemosagain@yahoo.com - Subject: silk city
Dear Kosta:
After a month trying our new venture, I can see that the Thursday dance is starting to pick up. I have decided that this is a good moment for me to withdraw from this project. I appreciate you considering me to participate in it... Best of luck to you and your team., Teresa Castano
                                                 ----------------
-"Thank you Teresa for all your help and we wish you best of luck and good health in your future.  Please visit us when you can. You will be missed. Kosta "
                                                    -------------------
The real story: The initial deal I made with the owner was not completely followed, and I didn't feel treated with the respect I would've liked. On the other hand, I don't like to host dances where there is not cover charge, even if is minimum, for security reasons. Also, I don't like to host dances where I have to work with only one DJ every week. However, I am happy to see a dance held  mainly for Latinos from  Central America, where they play the music they prefer such as cumbias, and bachatas. I am happy to see our Central American friends having a 'new home' in the area where they can get together every week. Join this group, they are true party people. Go Latino Thursdays in Florence!! Good luck to Silk City..

- WHAT ABOUT THE SUNDAY DANCE IN SPRINGFIELD:

I was encouraged with the project and with the venue. Montenia's Comfort Food Restaurant is a beautiful place in a different area for me to explore. However, since it was such new concept, it was going to take longer to make happen. As many of you know, especially in these days, club owners need to see results soon. I also needed to see results soon. I decided the time was here for me  to move on to my next venture.

I appreciate Montenia's effort to bring Latin dancing to her restaurant. I hear she continues to have Second Sunday afternoon dances with live music, $15 including food. Jesus Pagan and "Conjunto Barrio' are the band house invited every month. They are a very good group, don't miss it. I will stop by there, here and therePlease check her new updated web page at: www.
2.
Yes, New York City looks like the best available option for me so far. I have been visiting the area and getting in contact with different communities. I was told there are one million Colombians over there. It feels like a completely new world to what I've been experienced in this country so far. Great and big events happen all the time. I look forward to the upcoming outdoors concerts coming to Central Park in the Summer.

It won't be difficult to stay connected with the Dance community.  Once again, having so many different cultures in new York, I look forward to find ways to get as many as I can, to share together under the same roof. I will keep you posted about great events happening in New York, as I would love to stay your hostess for future events happening in the area.

On the other hand, I am interested in taking a Leadership courses offered by the Colombian Consulate. I have also being invited to be part orf the organizing commitee for the Colombian Parade on Independence Day in July. Wish me luck, I will keep you posted.
     3. Still available and around
... I'm wondering if I could hire you to help me with hosting a traditional cuban pig roast/dance party on July 31 in honor of my son's wedding?...Kisses, V."

Of course! Thanks for giving me the honor of hosting your party. Since I am going to stay in New England through the Fall, I will be available to host private parties and other cultural events. My rate base is $500 per party not including traveling time. Please, send me directions and let's talk more.  Love, Teresa
